From the 2003 SARS outbreak through 2009 H1N1, the 2014 Ebola crisis to COVID-19 in 2020 (when we were one of Beijing's few mask manufacturers in operation), BORUI has been a reliable backbone of national public health response. YY 0469-2023 supersedes YY 0469-2011 and takes effect on 1 December 2026. It adds definitions for particle filtration efficiency and breathing resistance, and revises structure, nose clip, straps, filtration efficiency and microbiological requirements.
China’s GB 19082-2023 for single-use medical protective clothing took effect on 1 December 2025, replacing GB 19082-2009. It adds moisture vapour transmission, puncture resistance, seam strength and bacteriophage penetration, and removes size specs and electrostatic decay.
The current mandatory national standard for medical protective masks is GB 19083-2010, and the industry standard for surgical masks is YY 0469-2011 (latest versions GB 19083-2023 and YY 0469-2023); both set core technical requirements such as filtration performance and fit.

The Measures for the Monitoring and Re-evaluation of Medical Device Adverse Events (Order No. 1), jointly issued by the SAMR and National Health Commission, took effect on January 1, 2019, establishing a tiered reporting and re-evaluation system for post-market adverse events.
The Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices (Order No. 739), revised by the State Council in 2021, took effect on June 1, 2021, establishing a classified, tiered full-life-cycle framework as the foundation of current medical device oversight.
